San Diego to Ensenada, MX

December 6, 2022

After several hectic days provisioning, selling my truck, last runs to the storage unit, and last minute Amazon orders before we leave the land of same day delivery, we finally left San Diego at midnight on December 6th.

Our ten hour trip from San Diego to Ensenada, Mexico was uneventful. The winds were calm so we ended up motoring the entire way and arriving at Marina Coral in Ensenada around 11 AM. We chose Ensenada to check in because the marina has great facilities and the staff are very helpful. Ensenada has consolidated all the check-in requirements (immigration, customs, and port captain) into one building making the check-in process to Mexico a breeze. Our check-in was completed by mid-afternoon.

We initially had planned a quick three day stop in Ensenada before heading south however while loading fresh water jugs onto Tasi in preparation to leave, I hurt my back and was laid up for several days recovering. This gave us more time to visit with our friends from S/V Starr E who have been living here in Ensenada for the past several months while they have extensive work done on their boat. It was great to spend time with Lara, Gordon, Osian, and Logan as well as meet new friends who are headed south as well.

ughh.

As I’m starting to feel better, we’re starting to look for our weather window to head south.
