San Jose Del Cabo

December 31, 2022 – January 2, 2023

San Jose del Cabo is about 20 miles east of Cabo San Lucas. It is a smaller, quieter town with a great marina. We arrived in the late morning on New Year’s Eve. We had previously secured reservations and checked in at the fuel dock. We topped off our tanks and headed over to our slip. The marina is relatively new with a few small restaurants, boutique hotels and a small town area just outside the marina. It caters mostly to sport fishing boats and megayachts but there were also several cruising boats like us. After enjoying a nap and shower after our 30 hour passage, we met up with the crew of SV Nani Ola for a surprisingly nice dinner at the El Ganzo Hotel restaurant near the marina. Although we didn’t stay out late, we did wake up to see the fireworks from Cabo San Lucas at midnight.

The next day we explored the area around the hotel with a long walk on the beach, checked out the location of the previous night’s rave and had a delicious breakfast at George’s.

That afternoon we took in the historic district in San Jose del Cabo. This is a really cool part of town with an big square and cool neighborhood to walk around with excellent restaurants and bars. We enjoyed the Secret Garden restaurant with excellent cocktails, delicious food and a great band.

The next day was full of boat chores including washing the boat, stocking up on fresh water, laundry, and re-wiring the VHF radio. Once these were complete we headed out for an exceptional meal at a restaurant called Acre. It is a farm to table restaurant situated within an exclusive resort located in a oasis in the hills behind San Jose del Cabo. It was fantastic food with incredible ambiance and my favorite company. Thank you SV Mystic for the recommendation.
